Test, Test and more tests!

I have known for the past couple of years that my hearing isn't the greatest. I feel like more and more people (friends, co-workers and family) have told me recently.. "gah you can't hear." My mom and I decided that we should go get some tests ran just too make sure that we are okay because she had also felt like she was having a harder time hearing as well. We made appointments at the ear doctor that fixed Kipton's ears (tubes) and loved him. He looked in our ears and everything looked okay but he referred us both to another doctor to get hearing tests. We went yesterday for our second appointment, this time being hooked up to all kinds of cords and plugs in a sound proof room with a light shining on you and a window where the doctor can see you. This was a little indimadating I have to admit.. a room that you see in the movies.. dark, hot with all these machines and wires. I went in first by myself and knew right off the bat that I didn't think this test was going so well knowing that I probably sat there a while and wasn't hearing anything. After 40 minutes of beeps, repeating words back to the doctor, and tests the doctor sat down and said.... "well, you weren't kidding when you said you couldn't hear." I think I was about to burst into tears at this point. He said I can give you some hearing aids which is what you need but they aren't going to help unless we can figure out what the problem is. A 29 year old should not have this much hearing loss and especially over a two year period. He was very concered and told me that he would be contacting the doctor that referred me so that we can run more tests to get to the bottom of this. So I have yet another appointment on Thursday to talk to my ear doctor, go over the horible results and get a game plan.. blood work and more tests more than likely. I just pray that we find out what is causing my hearing loss so that it doesn't continue to get worse. It is really hard to stay positive when you pull up causes of hearing loss on google.... tumor?!? really??!! Bad idea.... I should have just stayed away from the internet. I am hoping for an easy fix... hearing is an important thing that I hope to never take for granted. I will lean on this truth:
An update on my momma: She has some hearing loss but is completley normal for her age. Praise the Lord we got one great report!

And the worst mother award goes to......

We took the kids and cousin Parker to a Rockhouds game with our church small group back in June. The kids played on the playground, ate snowcones, rode the train around the field, just had a great time. When we were leaving Laney and her little friend were chasing each other (even after I said too many times to stop running), Laney tripped and landed on her arm. She was quick to let the whole stadium know that she was in pain. She cried on the way home. We looked at the minute we walked in the door but there was no brusining, no swelling, she didn't complian if you squeezed her arm or touched it. So we put some ice on it and sent her to bed. Not much mention of her arm the next day or the next. She would mention that it hurt every now and then but when asked which arm it was that hurt she couldn't even tell you which one it was. I thought, well maybe she just likes the attention. We went to Ruidoso with some friends the next weekend, where she fell again on her hurt wrist.... that is when I knew maybe we should just go get it checked out on Monday. So, here comes Monday we take her to the doctor and the poor little thing has a bow/bend fracture and part of the bigger bone on the end chipped. The doctor put her in a removable cast for 8 weeks. Luckily the 8 weeks puts us the week before she starts Kindergarden. I felt like the worst momma! But I think I have learned a few valuable lessons .. 1)my little princess may be all girl but she seems to tolerate pain pretty darn well 2) Broken bones don't always mean you should see bruises and/or any swelling.

So to finish off my title: The worst mother award goes to: ME!

First day with her cast!

Update: We are now on week 3 of having a cast and the bone is healing great. The doctor thinks only 3 more weeks and she can take it off. Since it is a removable cast, she can now take it off for bath time, eating and just sitting around. She is super excited about that. The cast is stinky, makes her arm itch and just gets in the way of her playing and writing.

This sign is passed between the girls in my office. Guess it was just my turn.

Sea World

So.. since I am way behind on blogging I am taking it back just a few weeks at a time.

We took the kids to Sea World for July 4th weekend. This was a first time for both of the kids. Landon and I had decided three days before that we needed to just pack up and take the kids some where fun. We bought our tickets, booked our hotel, packed our bags and off we went. We weren't to sure on how busy it would be since it was Fourth of July but we were pleasantly surprised. We got to see every show except a few night shows and didn't have to wait in line for any of them. We planned on staying for the fireworks that night but we were hot, tired and had seen all the things we intended on seeing. We hung out that evening on the riverwalk, ate yummy food at Tony Roma's and walked on the streets and found us a little spot to watch the fireworks. Both kids fell asleep within a few minutes of the fireworks starting so we walked the 5 miles back to the hotel and called it a night. I was so greateful for the long weekend and fun times with the family!

Kipton wasn't too sure about that big ol' Shamu!
Azul show (Dolphins)

Shamu! (not sure why I can't figure out how to rotate pics)

We met Franklin.. one of Laney's favorite cartoon shows as a little girl

Cool vibrations show. They had all kinds of tricks and Landon now wants to try them all.

Our view on the Riverwalk. So peaceful.

Our Weekend Fun!

We started off our weekend by taking the kids to see Despicable Me 2. This was Kipton's first time in a real movie theatre, so I wasn't too sure on how well he would do. I packed his bag with all kinds of snacks, a full sippy cup and put him in a pull up (even though he is potty trained.. I really just didn't want to get up 3 times during the movie because he needed to go.. call it lazy if you will. ha). We had such a great time. The movie was so funny and kept both kids laughing the whole time. After I cut Kipton off the popcorn (seriously 6 cups full), he starting to get a little restless, so we pulled out the candy. We survived and I am actually looking forward to the next movie with the kiddos. Whew!!

After the movie my sister offered to have both kids spend the night with her at my mom's house. Laney spends the night over at my mom's quite often but Kipton has been to little, so is usually left out.. but not this time. We went home packed bags and Landon and I debated on what in the world shall we do.. no kids all night?!? We went had a few drinks, then went and stayed up till 2:00 in the morning at our friends house in the back yard. It was so nice and relaxing! We were so thankful for that sweet little surprise of alone time and catching up with our friends without having to worry about bed time :) This picture was actually taken Saturday ;)

Saturday we went and celebrateed Parker and Liam's birthdays! The kids had a blast at the Pirate and Mermaid party. The kids are so grateful for sweet time with their cousins. We are not looking forward to them moving to Houston ;(
We also got to celebrate cousin Aiden's birthday! We went to dinner, ate more cake and the kids played and played! I think we had our fair share of birthdays this weekend and still have a few more to come the next few weeks.

My Munchkins :)

They may be a mess at times but still have this mommy's  heart!

It's about time!!!!!!!

Hi, it's me again! Long time no blog!! Well life is pretty busy with two kiddos as most of you probably already know. We have had birthdays, events, vacations, springs, summers and winters and I have failed to blog about any of them. I hope to do better and hopefully I can remember how to even make a blog post.. ha! Hopefully I can post some pics and keep up with this blog so that I have it to look back on one day.
