Kindergarten and weekend fun!

Our baby girl started Kindergarten Monday. I was actually alot more prepared than I thought I would be. Landon and I both took Kipton to school first, then took Laney to get settled into her new classroom. Kipton had a harder time than Laney did. He was so sad that his sister wasn't going inside daycare with him. He cried for a little bit, then I am sure he was fine shortly after.

After dropping Laney off, we went and ate breakfast and took our time getting to work. Then, we of course left work early to go pick her up. She had a great day. I had to pry information out of her but she met a new friend, got to spend some time with her other friends that go to Pease and really liked her teacher. She was ready to go back the next day, so that made me feel good.
My sweet little girl!

She was giving Kip a hug and telling him.. I won't be able to watch cartoons with you this morning or watch you on the play ground because I am going to a new school now ;( He loves loves loves his sister!

We had a great weekend also. We spent some time with our friends, Dusty, Sarah and their tweedle bugs and a few other friends. We went out to Dusty's parents house and ate some yummy food, the kids fed the horses, had fun watching the fishes in the pond and played, played, played.
Marsha letting Kip pet the horse, Cowboy, and fed him a cookie. He talked about that horse forever!

Laney met a new friend that is a year younger than her and they called each other best friends all night. It was too cute!

Sunday we had fun at the driving range with Papa.
Laney was out of control with that club.. haha

Kip LOVES golf like his daddy!

My loves!

This is a rare moment for me. Landon used to always take me to the driving range and really wishes I could play with him. Since kids we haven't been able to find much time but now that Kip is a little older we should make this a monthly family night.

Papa improving his swing too!

Five Minute Fridays - Last!

I am linking up to Lisa-Jo Baker's Five Minute Fridays.

Five Minute Friday

The prompt today: Last

This word has been weighed so heavy on me the past few months. My little girl's last day of preschool is today. Last day my little girl will be with her teachers and friends she absolutley loves. Last day my little girl will be at the same school as her little brother. She tells me all the time that she watches him and makes sure he is okay throughout the day. (melt me)

We went to meet the teacher last night and Laney was looking so sad. My husband looked at her and said what is wrong baby. She was devasted that she wouldn't see her Pre-K teachers anymore. She is truly going to miss them.

I will cherish the last moments of preschool and pray that she love her Kindergarten teacher just as much as she loves her teacher now. And I pray that she will have an easy transition come Monday. I pray that God will place students in her class that could become her lifetime friends.

We have so much to look forward to in the coming years but it always to hard to think about the lasts. I know we will have hard days but I also know we will have great days to come also!

So, heres to our First's. First day of Kindergarten!!!

Momma's Boy for sure :)

Wow.. 2 blog posts in 1 day, I am on a roll.

My sweet little boy is 2 years and 7 months and loves his mommy. He loves his daddy and sister too but can't get enough of his mommy. Landon will ask for a kiss and he say's no these are mommy's kisses. Although, he was given a kiss by the cutest little girl at church a few weeks ago (they actually go to school together too)and I told him that those are mommy's kisses and he said.. "Mommy, we have to share." Too precious!

The sweetest thing happened the other day. I was walking out of my bedroom and Kipton said "Hey babe". I think I just about melted. So now he goes around calling me his babe. I know I am Landon's babe but I also know that Kipton won't call me that forever so I am going to cherish every little second of being called "babe".

Jhett is here!!!!

Jhett Dixon McLeod has arrived weighing in at 7 lbs 15 oz, 21.25 inches long. My sister did so great... 4 hours of labor (all natural I might add) and 2 hours of pushing. Crazy quick labor being her first child. I am one proud Auntie!

Beautiful baby boy!
Proud Aunt Cara

Proud Uncle Landon
Isn't he so precious?!?

Laney loves her Aunt Cheche and new cousin :)

We love those long toes ;)

Meeting Jhett for the first time!

We had to stop at the buld a bear store in the Tyler mall. Laney picked a Princess Bear and Kipton picked a turtle and named him Pete! I have no idea where he came up with that name but I thought it was cute. The turtle's shell comes off and he calls it his backpack.. haha.

They gave their animals a bath, and brushed it's hair.

A little shopping at Brookshire's. Kipton loved having his own basket! I think he might have only ran over one person.. lol!

And we made some time to take the kids to the Caldwell Zoo in Tyler. They had lots of fun with cousin Aiden.

Family Pics

We scheduled some family pictures with a student that we taught in Lubbock at Trinity Church. We meet her and her family and loved them instantly. The sweetest family ever! Emily has been doing photography for several years, so we decided to hit her up for ours.

We headed to Lubbock on Sunday, spent time with my sister that just moved down there to go to Tech. As we were out and about we noticed some clouds starting to form. Sure enough we were in a thunderstorm warning. I called Emily frantic and we moved pictures to an earlier time, hurried up and got the kids dressed and ready and headed to her photography spot she picked. We were hoping that we could beat the storm but nope 15 minutes of taking pictures it started pouring!! Emily continuted to take as many pics as she could. We have pics of us holding umbrellas, pics of us soaking wet and best of all pics of the kids laughing and having so much fun (they loved playing in the puddles). Even though she only had 15 minutes, she some how still got some cute shots. We will be going to Lubbock for several Tech games so will have a chance for redos... which gives me a chance to find new outfits.. (Landon loves that part). hehe.

Here are the two pictures she sent me for a preview! I can't wait to see the others ;)

Five Minute Fridays - Lonely!

I am linking up to Lisa-Jo Baker's Five Minute Fridays.

The topic today: Lonely

Go......

Such a hard word for me. Lonely just isn't something I want to be. To me Lonely means being alone. Have I felt alone.. yes. Do I enjoy being alone.. no. Do I think we have all felt alone at time.. yes. I like company. I like having someone to talk to.

With two busy busy kids and a husband that is home you wouldn't think I would have time to even think about being lonely. Mommy, can you do this? Mommy, can you play with me. Mommy, can you get me a snack. Mommy, I'm thirsty. I have to admit that at these times I feel like saying... leave me alone. Go to your room, I need to clean this or fold laundry or make dinner or just sit here in peace and quiet.

Maybe my kids are lonely. Begging for my attention. Begging for me to put down my phone. Begging for me to put the clothes or dishes or whatever I may be doing down.

Maybe I need to learn a lesson from my kids and give them attention. Lonely isn't a great feeling.

May we find peace in knowing that God is with us and we will not ever be alone.

"Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.”
- Luke 12:6-7

Our weekend in pictures

This past weekend we had nothing planned what-so-ever! For some people this is awesome but for me I go a little stir crazy. I feel like I need to go go go and do do do all the time.

Friday night we decided to make a huge pallet on the floor and let the kids stay up late and watch The Lorax. Super fun! Laney has been asking to do that every night since ;)

Saturday, since I was already going stir crazy, we took the kids to the Big Spring pool. My kids love, love, love the water!!

Soaking in the sun!

And our favorite Sunday ritual, the Summer lawn concerts at the Museum of the Southwest. This past Sunday was Family night, so they had a craft table for the kids, hulu hoops and chalk. They felt pretty special in their masks!

Oh My!!! He steals my heart daily!!!
Pretty little Daddy's girl!!!

My babies!!

Laney made me a mask.. so of course I had to wear it... LOL.

And of course Daddy wanted to play too!

Fun with cousin Jillian!

All in All a relaxing weekend!!

Five Minute Fridays - Story!

I am joining Lisa Jo Baker for 5 minutes of writing on a topic of her choice. It is just a chance to write from the heart. No editing, no thinking about what to say next just letting the words flow.

http://lisajobaker.com/2013/08/five-minute-friday-story

So the topic this week is: Story.

Ready set GO!!

We all have stories. We all have different stories. Unique stories. Each story can and will touch the life of someone else if we just share our story so that other's can hear. I have a great example of this. My parents we going through a divorce (8 years ago). I never understood why.. or never knew why this had to happen to me. While working as a volunteer leader at Trinity in Lubbock, I was able to help many teenagers in the youth group that had parents going through the same thing. It is amazing to look back 10 years and say.... ooooooh God, that is why that happened to me, just so I can help 1 teenager. What an amazing God we serve. He has a story for each of us. I hope to share my story with others.. whether it be the small things in life or the life changing things that happen in my life. I need to just look at each moment that arises and remember this is my story and hope that I can help someone else.

I look forward to the story that God has for my husband and kids as well.

What is your story?

Test, Test and more tests!

I have known for the past couple of years that my hearing isn't the greatest. I feel like more and more people (friends, co-workers and family) have told me recently.. "gah you can't hear." My mom and I decided that we should go get some tests ran just too make sure that we are okay because she had also felt like she was having a harder time hearing as well. We made appointments at the ear doctor that fixed Kipton's ears (tubes) and loved him. He looked in our ears and everything looked okay but he referred us both to another doctor to get hearing tests. We went yesterday for our second appointment, this time being hooked up to all kinds of cords and plugs in a sound proof room with a light shining on you and a window where the doctor can see you. This was a little indimadating I have to admit.. a room that you see in the movies.. dark, hot with all these machines and wires. I went in first by myself and knew right off the bat that I didn't think this test was going so well knowing that I probably sat there a while and wasn't hearing anything. After 40 minutes of beeps, repeating words back to the doctor, and tests the doctor sat down and said.... "well, you weren't kidding when you said you couldn't hear." I think I was about to burst into tears at this point. He said I can give you some hearing aids which is what you need but they aren't going to help unless we can figure out what the problem is. A 29 year old should not have this much hearing loss and especially over a two year period. He was very concered and told me that he would be contacting the doctor that referred me so that we can run more tests to get to the bottom of this. So I have yet another appointment on Thursday to talk to my ear doctor, go over the horible results and get a game plan.. blood work and more tests more than likely. I just pray that we find out what is causing my hearing loss so that it doesn't continue to get worse. It is really hard to stay positive when you pull up causes of hearing loss on google.... tumor?!? really??!! Bad idea.... I should have just stayed away from the internet. I am hoping for an easy fix... hearing is an important thing that I hope to never take for granted. I will lean on this truth:
An update on my momma: She has some hearing loss but is completley normal for her age. Praise the Lord we got one great report!

And the worst mother award goes to......

We took the kids and cousin Parker to a Rockhouds game with our church small group back in June. The kids played on the playground, ate snowcones, rode the train around the field, just had a great time. When we were leaving Laney and her little friend were chasing each other (even after I said too many times to stop running), Laney tripped and landed on her arm. She was quick to let the whole stadium know that she was in pain. She cried on the way home. We looked at the minute we walked in the door but there was no brusining, no swelling, she didn't complian if you squeezed her arm or touched it. So we put some ice on it and sent her to bed. Not much mention of her arm the next day or the next. She would mention that it hurt every now and then but when asked which arm it was that hurt she couldn't even tell you which one it was. I thought, well maybe she just likes the attention. We went to Ruidoso with some friends the next weekend, where she fell again on her hurt wrist.... that is when I knew maybe we should just go get it checked out on Monday. So, here comes Monday we take her to the doctor and the poor little thing has a bow/bend fracture and part of the bigger bone on the end chipped. The doctor put her in a removable cast for 8 weeks. Luckily the 8 weeks puts us the week before she starts Kindergarden. I felt like the worst momma! But I think I have learned a few valuable lessons .. 1)my little princess may be all girl but she seems to tolerate pain pretty darn well 2) Broken bones don't always mean you should see bruises and/or any swelling.

So to finish off my title: The worst mother award goes to: ME!

First day with her cast!

Update: We are now on week 3 of having a cast and the bone is healing great. The doctor thinks only 3 more weeks and she can take it off. Since it is a removable cast, she can now take it off for bath time, eating and just sitting around. She is super excited about that. The cast is stinky, makes her arm itch and just gets in the way of her playing and writing.

This sign is passed between the girls in my office. Guess it was just my turn.
